Who we are
Background
The Open Hands Trust was formed as a collective of people, stories, and actions that came together in late September 2012 in order to alleviate hardship in and around Gibraltar.
The initial concept was to start a foodbank operation as a first step to provide relief to people in crisis first, and also across the border.
Our Target Market
Our Service Users are, in order of priority, people in crisis in Gibraltar, and secondly, we also aim to work in partnership with food-banks and NGOs across the border in order to also provide some relief there. This is normally done when we have stocks that are close to their expiry dates.
Legal
We have been registered in Gibraltar as Charity number 244 since 2013.
