The Open Hands Trust was formed as a collective of people, stories, and actions that came together in late September 2012 in order to alleviate hardship in and around Gibraltar.
The initial concept was to start a foodbank operation as a first step to provide relief to people in crisis first, and also across the border.
Harnessing the power of Social Networks, a Facebook group was started which rapidly grew to around 1000 members. People would set-up collection points at their places of work, using an Open Hands' container, and coordinate with the Open Hands' team when the container needed to be swapped-out for an empty one.
Our Target Market
Our clients are, in order of priority, people in crisis in Gibraltar, and secondly, we also aim to work in partnership with foodbanks and NGOs across the border in order to also provide some relief there.
